About
The AI practice of a firm that's kept nonprofits running since 2003.
Abatetech AI is the AI consulting and deployment practice of Abate Technology Services, a managed IT firm that has served nonprofits and small businesses in Greater Hartford, Connecticut for over two decades.
We split the AI work into its own practice for a simple reason: it's different work. Managed IT is about keeping systems secure and running. AI enablement is about changing how people work — strategy, policy, training, and automation that has to earn its place in your budget. Different conversations, different engagements, same standards.
The connection to the MSP side matters more than it might seem. AI deployment lives or dies on the boring fundamentals: tenant security, data permissions, identity, licensing. We've run those fundamentals for human-services nonprofits — organizations with confidential client data and funder compliance requirements — for twenty years. When we say "policy before tools," it's because we've seen what happens without it.
Michael Abate runs the practice. He's certified on the platforms we deploy, builds with these tools daily — agents, automated reporting pipelines, workflow automation — and teaches AI and Microsoft 365 professionally. The person doing your assessment is the person who builds the thing.
How we operate
Three commitments
Honest scoping
If AI won't meaningfully help a process, we say so — even when saying so costs us the engagement. A recommendation you can't trust is worthless.
Human checkpoints
Every automation we build has a human in the loop where judgment matters. AI drafts, humans decide. We don't deploy systems that speak for you unsupervised.
No vendor allegiance
No kickbacks, no commissions, no favorite. We recommend the platform that fits your work, and we'll tell you when it's time to switch.
Talk to the person who does the work.
No sales team, no handoffs. The first conversation is with Michael.
